Chef Kholiwe (Kholiwe Cooks)
Kholiwe Rafu , is the founder and chef behind The Cherished Bite Studios — a storyteller at heart, using food as her language. Her food story began in her grandmother’s kitchen in Matatiele, rural Eastern Cape, where every dish carried the soul of tradition and the warmth of home. Today, She uses her culinary training to honour the tastes and aromas she grew up with, bringing them to life in fresh, inspired ways.
At the centre of everything Kholiwe does is her love for the rich tapestry of South Africa, and her mission is to showcase it through her food and imagery. She holds a deep curiosity for how global flavours and techniques can breathe new life into the cherished traditions and ingredients rooted in our soil.
Whether she’s cooking for an intimate gathering, styling for a brand, or teaching aspiring food creators, she pours her heart into creating experiences that linger well beyond the meal. With every bite, her goal is to spark joy, curiosity, and a deeper connection to the magic of food.
